Students should submit their presentations in the medium best suited to their discipline (oral presentations, posters, performances, or exhibits and models). Students may choose to present with an oral presentation, visual aid (poster), or ac combination of the two (a PowerPoint during an oral presentation). Students in the visual arts will have the opportunity to display their original works (models, painting, sculpture, etc.). Students in the performing arts will have the opportunity to perform their original works (original music and songs, dramatic readings, dance).
Oral Presentations
Students should prepare a 15 minute presentation to showcase your research. If you will be using a PowerPoint during your presentation, you will need to submit your PowerPoint via email before arriving at the conference. You will also need to bring your PowerPoint with you on a USB jump drive or CD and a printed copy of your presentation as well.
Posters
Your poster can be no larger than 3’x 4’. It may be oriented either horizontally or vertically, to be mounted on a backboard and paced on an easel. Both the blackboard and easel will be provided for you. If you are unable to print a large poster, you may also use PowerPoint software to print out several 8.5” x 11” sheets that can be attached to a 3’ x 4’ board comfortably.
Models and Exhibits
There will be space for displays of models (architecture and others) and original artwork (ceramics, sculptures, and other art that can be places on tables). Easels will be available for paintings, drawings, and other hanging artwork. Students should stay with their display for the duration of their allotted session and be prepared to discuss your piece (the inspiration for it, meaning behind it, choice of media, etc…) during the allotted presentation time.
Performance
Original performances are encouraged and will be accommodated. Incorporation of performances into the conference program will be determined by the number and types of submissions received. As part of the application be sure to indicate how long the performance is expected to last and any special needs or equipment needed for the performance.
