College of Education - FAQs for Changing Majors

  • All COE majors are limited access and limited enrollment with Fall ONLY admission.

  • Students must have 60 hours and completed all general education and prerequisite requirements prior to admission.

Teacher Education

  • All teacher education programs are 3-year BS/MS combined degree programs once admitted into the major.

  • FSU graduation requirements must also be completed prior to admission, along with passing scores on the FTCE General Knowledge (GK) teacher exam.

  • Double majors are NOT allowed with our BS/MS teacher education programs.

Sport Management

  • Very competitive major that requires 60 hours completed by the end of the spring semester prior to fall enrollment, along with all general education and prerequisite classes.

  • SPM has a BS and a combined BS/MS degree path.

Can I double major in the College of Education?

  • BS/MS teacher education – NO

  • Sport Management – YES

Can I change my major to an Education major if I am a lower-division transfer student?

  • Possibly. If you meet the minimum GPA requirement and are on track based off the number of terms you have been enrolled in college post high school graduation.

    • BS/MS teacher education – 2.5 minimum GPA on all college coursework

    • Sport Management – 2.75 minimum GPA on all college coursework
