Associate in Arts Degree (AA)

To be eligible for an AA Degree from FSU, a student must have completed ALL of the following requirements by the end of the term of application:

Students who entered FSU Summer 2015 and thereafter

  • All Statewide Core Courses with a minimum 2.00 cumulative GPA
  • All FSU General Education Requirements with a minimum 2.00 cumulative GPA
  • All General Education English Composition and Quantitative/Logical Thinking courses must be completed with a minimum grade of "C-"
  • One IFS/E-Series course with a minimum grade of "C-" (this requirement is waived for students with an articulated AA degree or students who come to FSU with 12 or more credit hours earned post high school graduation)
  • Two state-mandated writing courses with a minimum grade of "C-" (this is in addition to the two required English Composition courses. One or more IFS courses may be taken toward meeting this requirement).
  • A minimum of a 2.00 overall GPA and FSU GPA
  • At least 60 credit hours toward graduation
  • 20 of the last 30 credit hours completed at FSU

Students who entered FSU before Summer 2015

  • All Liberal Studies courses with a minimum 2.00 cumulative GPA
  • All Gordon Rule (Writing) requirements with a minimum grade of "C-"
  • A minimum of a 2.00 overall GPA and FSU GPA
  • At least 60 credit hours toward graduation
  • 20 of the last 30 credit hours completed at FSU

Eligible students desiring the certificate must complete a formal application and submit it to the Office of Undergraduate Studies. The application may be submitted in the following ways:

At the end of the term, Undergraduate Studies will certify eligible students for the Associate of Arts Degree and notify the Graduation Section of the Registrar's Office, who will mail the certificate to the student. As this may take a while, the address on the application should be valid for at least six months.
