Michael Stephens

Michael Stephens is the Chief Human Resources Officer at Alston & Bird, an international law firm with more than 1,900 lawyers and business professionals across 13 offices. The firm has been recognized by Fortune magazine on its annual list of the “100 Best Companies to Work For©” for 27 consecutive years. In his role, Michael leads all human resources functions, supporting a culture centered on trust, service, and inclusion. He also serves on the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion, Investment, and Data Privacy & Security Committees.

In 2020, Michael completed his term as chair of the Association of Legal Administrators’ Diversity & Inclusion Committee, where he presented and shared leading practices with law firms nationwide. He also previously served as president of the Atlanta Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators. Michael has pursued advanced human resources training through the NYU Stern School of Business and Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Science in Social Science from Florida State University (Class of 1991). During his time at Florida State, he was a member of the Marching Chiefs and a Seminole Ambassador. He remains actively engaged with the university as an annual donor to the School of Theatre, CARE, Marching Chiefs, and is a Legacy member of the Seminole Boosters and Bowden Society member. He previously served on the Florida State University Alumni Association’s National Board of Directors and chaired the Diversity and Scholarship & Student Success Committees.

Michael is committed to community involvement and public service. He has served as a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta, Year Up Greater Atlanta, and POSSE, and recently completed his service on the Board of Trustees for the Historic Oakland Cemetery Foundation.

A native of Miami, Florida, Michael resides in Atlanta, Georgia, with his spouse, Collen Reedy. Together, they are proud parents of two Boston Terriers, Hudson and Harvey. In his spare time, he enjoys running half marathons, traveling internationally, wine tastings, and attending FSU sporting events. #MCATDT
