Yvonne Brown began her professional career with the Internal Revenue Service. She became their first female tax collector (Revenue Officer) and retired as a Group Manager. Yvonne then started her private tax consulting firm, dedicated to representing individuals and corporations that owed the IRS money. After selling her tax practice, she became CFO for a commercial real estate firm in So Fla. and retired in 2011.
Although Brown attended UF, she left all that behind and quickly became an ardent FSU supporter when she married a Seminole in 1968. Together they started out as members of the then newly created President’s Club and are now part of the James D. Westcott Legacy Society, Doak Campbell Society, Vires●Mores●Artes Society, Bowden Society and have been Golden Chiefs since 1977 and are MICCO’s. Yvonne is a Lifetime Member of the FSU Alumni Association, was inducted into the FSU Circle of Gold in 2016 and was awarded the 1st FSU Honorary Alumni Award by President Thrasher in 2017
When Brown’s husband retired in 2012, they moved to Tallahassee. Since then, Yvonne has been a member of the FSU Foundation Board, FSU National Campaign Committee, the FSU Planned Giving Council, FSU Undergraduate Studies Development Council, Seminole Boosters Board of Directors and the FSU Libraries Advancement Board. In the Tallahassee community, she has served as a Kearney Center volunteer, a TMH Foundation Trustee, Capital Medical Society Foundation Board of Directors, CHOOSE Tallahassee Board of Directors and a graduate of Tallahassee Lifelong Learning Leaders (TALL) Class 8.
She has been married to Judge Stephen Brown for 55 years, who serves as an Adjunct Professor in the FSU College of Law.
