Brandon McCray

Brandon T. McCray is a seasoned leader in higher education fundraising, bringing over 25 years of experience in philanthropy, development, and executive management. He currently serves as Associate Vice President for Philanthropy at the University of Kentucky, where he oversees the fundraising teams across all campus colleges and units, in addition to leading central development teams focused on annual giving, marketing and communications, donor stewardship, and regional fundraising.

Prior to his role at the University of Kentucky, Brandon held senior leadership positions at several major institutions. He served as Vice President for Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement at Augusta University and the Medical College of Georgia, Associate Vice President of Development at Florida State University, and held similar leadership roles at the University of North Florida, the University of Florida College of Medicine and Meharry Medical College.

Before transitioning to higher education, Brandon spent over five years in banking, serving as a Banking Center Manager and Assistant Vice President for Business and Private Banking at Bank of America.

Brandon is a dedicated community advocate with a long history of service on numerous nonprofit governance boards. He remains actively engaged in volunteer work and is deeply committed to giving back, particularly by creating opportunities for students facing significant challenges.

He currently serves on the board of Lonestar and Biscayne High School in Jacksonville, Florida—an innovative charter school focused on dropout prevention and recovery. Brandon's career reflects a strong dedication to philanthropy, service, and leadership, all aimed at making a lasting impact.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Florida State University in 1994. Brandon is married to fellow FSU graduate Makiva Sherrod McCray, and they are proud parents of twin sons, Brandon Jordon and Trenton—both proud graduates of FSU as well.
