School of Theatre - FAQs for Changing Majors

  • As one of the top-tier theatre training programs in the nation, the School of Theatre challenges its students to grow as artists and individuals as they explore the world of theatre and where they fit into it. The School provides its students with a wide variety of theatrical and educational opportunities.

  • The primary mission of the School of Theatre is to offer students a comprehensive education in theatre and to prepare emerging artists to enter the professional theatre industry. As a result, the School of Theatre provides both student artists and community audience members a diverse array of productions that explore the spectrum of our shared humanity.

BFA Acting & BFA Music Theatre

Do the BFA Acting and BFA Music Theatre programs admit students every semester?

  • Both BFA majors are limited access meaning it requires a supplemental application that includes a pre-screen and audition process. Because of this, these programs only admit students in the Fall.

  • The audition cycle for Fall 2020 consideration has ended so students are unable to change their major to either of these programs at this time. If you are interested in applying internally for Fall 2021 consideration, the application window opens up August 1, 2020. Please e-mail Recruitment Manager, Cristina Izquierdo at cizquierdo@fsu.edu to obtain an internal application link.

BA Theatre

  • While the BA program is also limited access, it does not have an audition component. Students interested in applying simply need to complete a Supplemental Application.

  • Those interested in applying should contact Recruitment Manager, Cristina Izquierdo at cizquierdo@fsu.edu to have the BA Theatre Supplemental Application added to their Application Portal. Please be advised that there is a limited amount of spaces available and once we have reached capacity, students will no longer be able to change into this major.
